Meet the Team

Paul Fowler joined the Emory community in the summer of 2008 and serves as the Executive Director of the Career Center.  In his role, Dr. Fowler provides oversight and direction for all aspects of student professional development and post-graduation resolution for Emory College students.

Prior to Emory, Dr. Fowler served as the Senior Associate Dean of Student Affairs/Director of the Career Center at Carnegie Mellon and Dean of Students at Pfeiffer University.  He holds degrees from the University of Virginia (PhD), Florida State University (MS), and the University of South Carolina (BBA).

Don Cornwell has been a member of The Career Center staff at Emory University since 1998. Currently, in his role as Director, Mr. Cornwell leads the supervision of the career coaching staff as well as working one on one with Emory students and alumni as a Career Consultant.

He earned a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Student Personnel Services with a concentration in Counselor Education from The University of South Carolina (1997) and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (BS), with a concentration in Human Development and Psychological Counseling from Appalachian State University (1990).

Tricia has been with The Career Center since 2000.  She works with employers and alumni to promote opportunities and organize career fairs, networking events, interviews, resume reviews, and workshops. She enjoys collaborating with employers to customize innovative, informative, and engaging recruitment strategies that reflect their companies, brands, and cultures and drive student interest. She is the department expert on Handshake and is continually working on developing creative ways to support and improve virtual engagement for both students and employers. Her tenure with The Career Center allows her to follow the diverse career paths of Emory’s alumni and enjoys reconnecting with former students as they engage with the office on the other side of the table.

Tricia attended The University of Georgia and has a culinary degree from Kendall College in Chicago. Before joining higher education, she was a pastry chef.

Industry Career Clusters: STEM

Jessica Harrington joined the Career Center staff at Emory University in 2020. Currently, in her role as an Assistant Director, Jessica works one on one with students declared as STEM Majors. Jessica enjoys being the Co-Chair of the Career Center’s Betterment Committee and assisting other staff with efforts around the office. She earned a Master of Education in Student Personnel Services from The University of Arkansas at Little Rock (2013) and a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Sociology from Arkansas State University (2011).

Frank March has been a member of The Career Center staff since 2020. In his role as the Marketing & Communications Specialist, Frank is responsible for the branding and outreach for Career Center events, programs, and initiatives. 

Specializing in digital content, Frank is also responsible for managing all Social Media profiles and websites for the office. 

He earned his Masters of Education (M.Ed.) in College Student Affairs from the University of South Florida and has spent the last 10 years successfully marketing a variety of content in Higher Education. 

Maureen serves as Director of Recruitment & Employer Relations and although she is new to the Emory Career Center team, she is not new to the world of university recruiting & employer engagement having worked at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) and most recently Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) where she served in 2 different campus career centers. Maureen has enjoyed a comprehensive 30+ year rewarding career counseling a wide variety of students from diverse majors as well as assisting employers from every industry imaginable to strategically connect to bright young eager talent across the board.

Maureen’s vast experience includes industry knowledge and engagements that include entertainment, banking & finance, consulting, technology, health care, engineering, retail, creative, cultural, and professional sports, and the list goes on & on.

She earned a Master’s degree in Student Affairs from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from St. Vincent College and considers working in student affairs & university life a career calling that continues to be as fulfilling now as it was when she started.

Hearing the words “I have a job offer!” from an excited student has never lost its ability to be the gift of working in this field and our goal is to hear these words from every Emory student seeking our assistance!

Industry Career Clusters: Creative & Environment & Sustainability (Green)

Renoal “Rey” Murat recently joined The Emory Career Center team in August 2021. He currently specializes in the Environment and Sustainability (Green) Cluster, as well as a few Creative Cluster fields (Film and Media, Advertising, PR, Social Media, and Marketing/Brand Management). He has over five years of experience in the career services field in both career development (as a career coach) and the employer relations/recruitment areas. Overall, he has 10+ years of experience in the Higher Education industry under various units such as Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, and Advancement.

He is a first-generation college graduate with a Master of Science (M.S.) in Higher Education Administration from Florida International University (2016), and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Media/Communication Studies from Florida State University (2012).

Kendra Owens serves as the Associate Director and Career Coach at Emory University’s Career Center. She began her career in 2016 as a graduate intern serving students on both the Oxford and Atlanta campuses. In her current role as Assistant Director, she manages and supervises the Leadership Fellows Program, provides one-on-one counseling to both undergraduates and recent alumni, and hosts programs and events related to her industry clusters.

Kendra studied Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Argosy University (M.S) and Communicative Sciences and Disorders at Alabama A&M University (B.A). Prior to her time at Emory, Kendra worked in the nonprofit industry serving a broad range of nonprofits in their efforts of establishing nonprofit status, mission planning, organizational capacity, and program planning and implementation.

Industry Career Clusters: Pre-Law & Law | Government, Public Policy, and International Affairs

Carol Riddock serves as the Associate Director of Pre-Law Advising at Emory University and Career Coach for the Law, Government, Public Policy, and International Affairs industry cluster. In her role, she manages the programs and services of the Pre-Law Advising Office, serving all current pre-law students and alumni, and also provides general career counseling. In her capacity as Emory’s Pre-Law Advisor, she also serves as the Staff Advisor for pre-law student organizations, including Emory’s Mock Trial team.

Carol graduated from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Political Science. After graduation, she attended law school at UCI Law in Chicago, IL where she focused on different areas of public interest law. Carol moved to North Carolina to work for Legal Aid of North Carolina to assist their efforts in fair housing investigations. She later returned to Georgia where she practiced as a Public Defender and a private immigration/criminal law attorney. Carol also worked at Emory Law School as Associate Director of Admission assisting prospective students in navigating the application process for law school.

Beth White serves as the Senior Associate Director and Career Counselor at Emory University. She has been a part of the Career Center staff since 1993. In her role, she provides career counseling to undergraduate students in the college as well as recent graduates/alums. She also leads career panels and networking events related to her career clusters.

Beth earned a Master of Science (M.S) in Student Affairs in Higher Education with a concentration in Human Development from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree (B.A.) in Communications from Virginia Wesleyan College in Norfolk, VA. Before graduate school, Beth worked in College Admissions for a few years. Her greatest joy is seeing students move forward in their career development throughout their four years, and finally finding career resolution by graduation, as well as reconnecting with alumni whom she knew as students.

Stephanie Benton became a member of The Career Center staff in 2022, serving as Recruiting Manager for the Goizueta Business School BBA Career Management Center and Emory Career Center. As a member of the recruiting team, she collaborates with employers and alumni to promote and organize networking opportunities for Emory students.

Stephanie earned her Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Webster University. Her experience spans over a decade, serving in various roles within higher education. These experiences have equipped her with the knowledge and skills necessary to address the needs of students throughout every stage of their academic journey.
